About

About

I am the author of Carbon Choices on the common-sense solutions to our climate and nature crises.  I am now an active climate blogger, writing about the solutions to climate change and also about my home electrification project.

I felt compelled to write Carbon Choices to see if I can, in my own small way, help people to make the changes that we need to prevent humans from causing climate change and destroying wildlife.

I am a geography graduate from Scotland who worked as a Chartered Accountant for 20 years.  I made a successful career change to work to promote Sustainable Development Policy for a government agency.  I am now a member of the Institute of Water and work as an Energy Specialist. However I remained frustrated knowing that humans were slowly ruining our planet. Most people seemed to be blissfully unaware, and I was not doing anything about it - hence I wrote Carbon Choices.

I called it Carbon Choices because 'carbon' is shorthand for all the gases that warm the planet, and we all make choices every day that impact on our emissions of these gases. This book is independent of my employer.  Any views expressed are my own.

Carbon Choices will help businesses and consumers to influence governments to set tight regulations; will encourage businesses to offer consumers better choices; and will empower individuals to make better choices for our climate and for wildlife.

Target Audience

Carbon Choices will fill any gaps in your understanding of climate change and nature loss.  It lays out the solutions including green action plans for governments, businesses and individuals.  It will motivate you to change your behaviour and maybe inspire you to campaign to change business activity.

Carbon Choices is a ‘popular science’ book, written in an easy to read style. It is likely to appeal to those with an interest in climate change, green business and renewable technology, sustainability, geography, the environment, nature or wildlife.   It will attract pupils at secondary school or university and older readers who were never taught about climate change at school.  Ideal for a present or for a book-group discussion.
